Writer, wildlife film maker, narrator, presenter, locally and internationally he has collaborated in making over 20 full length wildlife documentaries. A conservationist who lives and works in the conflict zones of man and wildlife, strongly believes in nourishing the 'grass roots', if preserving the diversity of life is to have any meaningful future. When it comes to island affairs, not only on such natural history subjects as birds, snakes, lizards, butterflies but on archaeology, ancient irrigation systems, history, or even the aborigines. He has an enthralling story to tell in his own inimitable way. Be on tour with him and you will know.

Ferns and orchids, butterfiles and birds, snails and lizards be it Botany or Zoology he has been a key member of many a research team that carried out pioneering work in these fields. Where natural history is concerned his knowledge is sound and scientific and he knows where to creep and crawl in search of the rare jewel of the clients desire! But he is not just facts and figures. With a keen eye for the natural splendor, Dhammithra captured the brilliance of the butterflies on camera and was the first to hold an exhibition “The Silent Wings”. |

Wildlife, sure, runs in his veins. Born and bred in the Lepoard country of
Wilpattu (his father was the then warden of the National Park), Sunil has
worked for Baurs and its many natural history clients for over 20 years.
There is not a road he has not traversed, not a park he has not visited in this
country. A well known name in bird circles the world over.

He hails from Bibile the Veddha country, the land of the aborigines of Sri Lanka. A passionate bird watcher would say, the land of the Painted Francolin and the Yellow footed Green Pigon. His intimate knowledge runs into birds and other wildlife and also cultural aspects, such as Buddhist temples and Hindu shrines.

Hails from the village of Bundala the wader country. Naturally he flocked with the migratory gatherings from a very early age. Later he picked up the nitty gritty of natural history when he joined the park service. He is what you call a complete out-door man. His keen sight and acute hearing can simply astound even the best of birders. |
His life long passion for bird watching made him retire prematurely from an
administrative post in the Ministry of Agriculture in which capacity he was
able to travel the length and breadth of this country. He was trained in
guiding at the Tourism Training Center of Sri Lanka. Today he is a full time
member of the Baurs team counting over 10 years experience in to bird
watching.
